Join us this Friday, February 4th from 6 - 9pm - Art After Dark.
Picking Daisies, will be hosting the Opening Reception for Sheryl Daane-Chesnut's showing of her abstract figurative and landscape paintings, including these fabulous new pieces:
In the spirit of Saint Valentine, during the month of February, Sheryl is offering a series of pairs: each painting complements the other - but still can stand alone.
In Sheryl's words: "Like any great couple the strength of one is not a derivative of the other; instead the blending creates a new beauty. The paintings are priced individually, but a discount is given when they are purchased together."
To add to the evening's fun, we are delighted that Bob and Wendy will be performing for us once again - back by popular demand!
We look forward to enjoying the evening with you!

Sheryl's pieces in order above: California Spring & California Summer, Jump & Joy, Universe & Unfolding

Fabric Scraps
We sell our fabric scraps by the ounce. We have them all set out in a big basket next to a little scale to weigh them as demonstrated here:
We often have little treasures for sale in our store that have been made using our fabric scraps. But we are overflowing in beautiful, colorful, glorious scraps and realized it is time to let others have their turn at craftiness.
Need ideas? We are very fond of this book by Sandi Henderson:
The internet is full of wonderful blogs filled with scrap sewing ideas from the simple.....
To the seriously complex....

Napkin of the Month
What a GREAT idea!
On February 1st, we will be presenting our very first "Napkin of the Month".
On the first of each month, we will offer one unique napkin design for sale at the super-duper low price of only $3.95. Because of limited inventory (one bolt worth of napkins), we will have a limit of 2 per customer.
Just imagine, if you purchase only one or two napkins a month from us, by the end of the year you could have a wonderful array of napkins like this adorning your table.
The Napkin of the Month will be available in our store on the 1st day of each month (or the Tuesday after if it falls on a Sunday or Monday).
AND! You can easily purchase them on our website ... even you locals!
If you live locally, just choose "store pick-up" when you check out and you will not be charged for shipping.
Check out our website (link here) on the 1st to see the design we have chosen for our next Napkin of the Month.

January's Table Setting
Each month we enjoy setting our table with a new table setting to show off either a new product or fabric, or in celebration of a festive holiday. It finally occurred to us that it would be wonderful to share it with all of you each month in our blog.
So ... we present January's table setting!
The product we are featuring is our new line of place mats made from the same wonderful 100% cotton we use for our napkins. These place mats are about as fun and easy-care as they get.
Funny story: The four place mats featured in these photos were the first and only four we brought in to the store to use for this table setting. As soon as we finished snapping these photos, a customer came in to the store and purchased all four right off the table!
So you can imagine how bare and sad our table looked for a few days until we finally stocked the store with lots more place mats to sell and decorate with.
In the meantime, thanks to Sprigs, we still had these lovely flowers embellishing the center of the table.
January is flying by - it already time to start planning February's table setting!

We Sell Fabric
But this is actually not breaking news. We have always sold our fabulous fabrics by the yard, we've just kept the bolts hidden behind the counter which makes it quite hard for customers to view and access them.
Light Bulb! .....let's have our very own Mr. B build us a beautiful cart to display the fabrics in full access to our customers.
And voila.... (Yes, Mr. B is just that fast!)
In addition to displaying the fabrics, the cart has a beautiful and functional counter top to lay out, view, measure and cut the fabric.
And for our wonderful online customers, we have put each of our available fabrics on our website in their very own "fabric" section.
Here are just a few of the many fabrics available:
We've even included handy little measurements because the fabric swatch images provided by the manufactures are quite inconsistent in their swatch size. The above swatch shows more that 2ft of the fabric.
This one is more than a foot smaller:
Still smaller.....
And this one shows a tiny 3 1/2" swatch.
See all our fabrics on our website here.
